Inside Ultimate Playground – the FEC set to open on £700 million Carnival Cruise Line ship
Carnival Cruise Line is scheduled to add their biggest cruise ship in its fleet in 2021 – which is set to house a state-of-the-art family entertainment centre on board.
The sophisticated open-air experience will brim with cutting edge experiences on Decks 18 to 20 of their new Mardi Gras ship.
Bringing spectacular theme park fun to the oceans, the Ultimate Playground will house the largest Waterworks aqua park - which features three unique pulse-racing slides designed for all ages of fun.
Blue Lightning will feature 312 feet of intense high-speed twist and turns and Orange Thunder drop-down slide will immerse guests into an adrenaline filled journey before being propelled into a wet ‘n’ wild splash zone.
With emulating slides on other Carnival Cruise Line ships, the Ultimate Playground will also their signature Twister attraction which delivers 265 feet of thrills for all the family.
A Splash-tastic Zone will also be on offer for younger guests.
Other attractions include a 600 foot suspended ropes course, a nine hole miniature golf course, basket ball course and even a jogging track.
And we’ve saved the best till last – with Carnival Cruise Line revealing the world’s first rollercoaster at sea as the Ultimate Playground’s centrepiece.
Titled BOLT, the ground-breaking experience will immerse riders a thrilling 187 feet above sea, and include an abundance of drops, turns and dips - while reaching speeds of up to40 miles per hour.
Through advanced technology, guests will travel on motorcycle-themed vehicles and tailor their own speeds – ensuring a unique experience every time they ride.

The Ultimate Playground and Mardi Gras cruise ship was developed and constructed in Turku Playground, with a planned European launch in August 2020. However, due to the continued impacts of COVID 19 Mardi Gras’ maiden voyage has been delayed until the second quarter of 2021 with a series of Caribbean cruises in the pipeline.
